Happy New Year! We hope that everyone has had a restful holiday. First grade is ready to jump into plans for the new year.
In Reader's Workshop we are beginning our unit on Inferring. When readers infer, they use prior
knowledge and textual clues to draw conclusions and form unique interpretations of text. That's a mouthful ! This will be a challenging unit.
Writer's Workshop will focus on using details to enrich writing. Students will learn to use graphic organizers to help plan and organize their writing.
We are looking forward to our field trip on February 9th to see the performance of "Henry and Mudge" at the Ferst Center. This will truly enrich our study of characterization in reading as well as writing.
